Father of Four Commits Suicide Over Debt Settlement in Ogun

…Over wife’s alleged infidelity, inability to settle debt

A 35-year-old father of four has allegedly committed suicide in Ijebu Ode, Ogun state over his wife’s infidelity. The deceased Kayode Onabamiro was said to have hanged himself inside his one room-apartment at 13, Awokoya Street, Ijebu Ode on Sunday.FN’s source reporter gathered that he had tricked his son to buy him a loaf of bread shortly after requesting for paper in which he was said to have written his suicide note.

His death was uncovered when the wife returned home in the evening and forced the door open after several knocks on the door without response. In the suicide note he left behind, Onabamiro, who until his death was a motorcycle repairer stated that the he took his life because of his inability to pay a debt he owed and his wife’s infidelity.

Their co-tenants were later attracted to the scene when the wife of the deceased raised the alarm on seeing her husband’s lifeless body dangling in his room. Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi who confirmed the incident said investigations had begun.

The PPRO stated that police rescued the deceased’s wife from being lynched by angry members of her late husband’s family.
