Femi Fani-Kayode dumps PDP for APC

Ado-Ekiti — Former Minister of Aviation, Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode, has dumped Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, for All Progressives Congress, APC, describing PDP as a party that lacks discipline, fairness and internal cohesion.

Fani-Kayode said he decided to quit PDP, under which he served as the Minister during the former President, Olusegun Obasanjo’s regime, owing to alleged abuse of powers by the presidency and members of National Working Committee, NWC, of the party.

Fani-Kayode, who spoke with the newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, yesterday, shortly after his visit to Governor Kayode Fayemi, said PDP had derailed from the laid down principles and objectives for which the founding fathers of the party were known.

He further expressed his displeasure over the present face-off between the presidency and Governor of Rivers State, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, saying the presidency had succeeded in making Ameachi a national hero with the way he was allegedly being persecuted over his emergence as the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, NGF.

He said: “With this open persecution, the Presidency and the PDP NWC are only making hero out of Amaechi.

“Their action was illogical. 35 people voted and this man scored 19 and his challenger, Governor Jonah Jang garnered 16 votes and the loser turned around to say he won the election.

“Automatically, Amaechi remains the popular wish of the Governors’ Forum, who are populated by highly distinguished and intelligent Nigerians.”

This had shown that no election can be scuttled or teleguided by the Presidency. No matter how powerful an office or someone might be, one should be aware that there is a supreme man that is directing the affairs of men”.

He, however, urged Nigerians to brace up for a titanic battle in 2015, saying the sordid scenario that dogged the outcome of the NGF’s election, was suffice to believe that the forthcoming election would be a charade .

“In 2015, if the PDP loses to APC and they are trying to play this kind of game with Nigerians, then they will know we all own this country”, Fani-Kayode said.

“What Nigerians need now is to join hands with the APC Leaders, Major Gen Mohammadu Buhari and Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu to move the nation forward”.

He said he was not sure the ruling party was worth salvaging the rots in the land, stating that he had left the party long ago to pitch his tent “with those that my spirit has been with long ago”.

“I am not sure that great leaders have respect for the party again. I am not sure former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, is respecting the party again and many others, so I had bid the party bye-bye”.

He described his former party as a sinking ship that cannot be salvaged
